A tech sales representative primarily focuses on identifying prospects, communicating product value, and closing deals. A sales engineer also performs these tasks but adds technical depth by explaining complex products, tailoring technical solutions to customer requirements, and providing consultative support throughout the sales cycle. In many cases, sales engineers partner with sales reps to ensure technical questions are resolved and customer solutions are optimized.
